JAMES ONESCHUK James Oneschuk passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on July 21, 2011. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife Donna, of 41 years, daughters Tamara (Tammy), and Lisa; brother Dave Oneschuk of Garson, MB and family; sister Elsie Dudar of Gimli and family. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Josephine, and his sister Margie. James grew up on a farm in the small town of Garson. Here he helped his parents. He then worked at Scheweyer Construction and helped build the Perimeter Highway in Winnipeg. He was very proud of this accomplishment. He then worked with B B Rentals until his retirement. James always played it safe, never taking chances. He always said better to be safe than sorry. He was a hardworking man with a very strong work ethic, and strong values which he instilled on his girls. Work was his main priority as he had to provide for his family. Although very set in his ways, he was always protective of his family. James enjoyed golf. He always shared tips and advice with whomever had the pleasure of playing golf with him. His hobbies also included curling - many fun times at West St. Paul Community Centre, gardening, ski-doo racing - many trophies to show for it, deer hunting, and tinkling with cars. He liked old-time movies, westerns, watching car races and hockey. He was also a fan of the Winnipeg Jets. James was proud of his heritage. He liked polkas and Ukrainian music. James enjoyed the quiet times: rides to Lockport to look at the countryside and reading the news to catch up on current events. He also liked garage sales and shopping for deals and bought Lotto tickets hoping for the big win. He loved pastries, sweets, cookies and had his time with tea. He always had a candy in his pocket. He was a friendly man who had acquaintances on every corner as he loved to talk. He was always there to help people when called upon. Memorial Service to be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment and reception to follow. Special thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for making his final days more comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
